This two piece airline shaft mallet is the latest innovation from George Wood Mallets. Made up of two precision ground shafts and aluminum fitting which automatically align the handle with the head and is then secured with an allen key.  This allows the mallet to be taken apart for travel and reassembled in seconds. This mallet can be adjusted from an overall length of 90cm - 100cm. 

The Evolution Mallet is a superbly balanced mallet that provides players with more power, while maintaining better control. Heads Milled stainless steel end plates provide peripheral weighting to an attractive Indian Sheesham hardwood and Sycamore head.

These mallets have evolved after several years sourcing the best possible materials and testing different concepts and configurations. It is only relatively recently that the rules of croquet allowed the use of metal end plates which enables mallets to be considerably more efficient and effective.  It also increases the stability of the head by having the heavier wood on the sides.  By re-distributing some of the mass close to the striking faces, the moment of inertia is increased. This makes the head more stable during the swing, particularly for making accurate rushes, long roquets, and hitting-in. Also such a mallet turns less when shots are hit off-centre.

The mallet heads feature 8mm thick milled stainless steel end plates. These are also used to provide peripheral weighting to an attractive Indian Rosewood heads that measure 55mm wide by 60mm high.  The steel head plates are attached using a slightly flexible bond which is extremely strong and produces a satisfying "clunk" when struck. Horizontal milled lines on the hitting surface allow the player to impart spin on the ball when required.
